Government may sack more heads of departments

LESS than 24 hours that saw the sacking of about 26 chief executives of parastatals by President Muhammadu Buhari’s government, indications have emerged yesterday that more directors-general may soon be removed from office. A source told The Guardian that about 20 more directors- general are slated for removal due to reports indicating widespread mismanagement of their agencies as well as financial malpractices.The Guardian learnt that before now, President Buhari has been under intense pressure from the All Progressives Congress (APC) caucus to sack all heads of Federal Government parastatals to create job opportunities for party members who worked to ensure the success of the party at the 2015 polls.

JACINTHA Obairi, a 35-year-old patient at Simeon Hospital in Lagos is suffering from end-stage kidney disease. She is soliciting for financial help from kind-hearted individuals, organisations and the government for a kidney transplant. The hospital report states: “She requires a kidney replacement therapy to be alive. She is at present undergoing haemodialysis. Haemodialysis is a procedure through which undesirable metabolic waste products (urea and creatinine), water, potassium, etc. are removed from the body to avoid toxic accumulation of these substances that occur in a non-functional kidney. Tompolo Ekpemupolo seeks court ruling on his appeal

Ex-militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tomopolo, has appealed to Justice Ibrahim Buba of a Federal High Court, Lagos, to release to him, copy of the ruling of February 8, 2016 in the charge filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to enable him appeal against same. Vanguard gathered that one of the counsel to Tompolo in the matter, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, has been frequenting the court to get the ruling, to enable Tompolo appeal same with no luck. Yesterday in court Adegboruwa made an oral appeal to the judge, expressing his frustrations in respect of the ruling. He said it was necessary to appeal to the judge to intervene because of the time limited for Tompolo to exercise his right of appeal. The judge reminded Adegboruwa that the ruling was only delivered on February 8, 2016 and that he had a backlog of judgments and rulings to deliver. The judge said a lawyer from Adegboruwa’s law firm had been visiting the court everyday since February
